Im sure anyone who sees car ads on tv will remember just how irritating it was when you first saw Mazda's Zoom Zoom ads.
Well, if that affected you look away now, because things are about to get worse.
The new Mazda 2 ad is possibly the most soul destroying, brand sapping, cliche'd, youth pandering, contrived piece of shit I have ever seen.
Its the 2007 equivalent of Pans People dancing badly in leotards around a Vauxhall Nova. Its 2 parts rubbish dancing, 1 part gymnastics, 5 parts terrible writing, 6 part terrible planning, and 25 parts bad production.
Oh and don't forget possibly the worst tagline of the 21st century. "It's Fit".
What?
Did I just hear that right?
Yep. Its Fit apparently.
Ok, so its clearly aiming at the 17 year old fresh driver market, but please please Mazda/JWT , credit them with a modicum of brain ability. Just because you say "It's Fit" in retro faux ironic fashion doesn't mean they will suddenly upend everything to get one. We are back to ads saying "This is way cool dudes."
And that sadly ruins an entire brand from being in my consideration list when I buy a car.
Oh dear.

Debt Ads Matter
Honestly.
Radio ads are so polarising. Some are great and some are awful.
While others are just diabloodybolical.
An ad for Debt Matters is currently on our local station all the time. (im not linking to them as I would hate to promote their site based on this ad).
It goes pretty much:
"Did you know you can pay off debts without a loan?
Do you?
Oi, stupid, are you listening?
Look, you are in debt, therefore you must have a brain the size of a pea.
Do....you.....un...der...stand.......Comprehende?
(aside) Idiot.
I really hate this kind of hard sell ad, and I hate the assumption that everyone in debt is ignorant and stupid even more. I speak to people who use these kinds of services on a regular basis, and most of them seem just as intelligent as anyone else. So why do this company (among others) not understand that? Honestly...

Shoe... Go On SHOE. Stupid ad...
Latest company to cross over into awful ad territory: Brantano.
The latest ad for Brantano shoes feature a female professor Brantano (supposedly on a par with Freud...) who discovers the part of the brain that makes women go mad for shoes.
Now, the ad appears to be aiming itself at women, yet taking the piss out of them in a remarkably unsubtle and charmless way. Its a little amusing, but it borders on the patronising in the way it depicts all women as helpless over shoes.
I cant find a video to show those of you who havent seen it, I will keep looking...
